A Malaysian couple is facing a possible death sentence after PDRM seized different types of drugs in their car, which are worth RM2.4 million.

32-year-old Zeng Yi Fei and his 34-year-old girlfriend Chen Pei En each face one charge  and two charges of drug possession. The couple was found hiding 14.42 kilograms of ecstasy in their family’s car, which they drove early in the morning while headed to a “business transaction.”

The transaction, however, was foiled when police noticed something suspicious about the couple. PDRM then checked their car at a parking space in Mutiara Skudai at around 12:30 AM on December 28 last year, where the couple was scheduled to meet someone for the “deal.”

Ecstasy was not the only narcotic that the police seized. In a report by China Press, PDRM also managed to find two other drugs hidden in their car, namely:

  • 24.58 grams of ketamine
  • 2.75 grams of methamphetamine

Both pleaded NOT guilty

The couple was brought to court yesterday (January 7), where they nodded at the charges read to them but eventually pleaded NOT guilty. Here are the charges that the couple is facing.

  • First charge: Selling 14.42kg of ecstasy at a parking space in Tiara Park, Skudai at 12.30 AM on December 28 last year, a violation of Section 3b (1) (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and can be sentenced under Section 39b (2) of the same Act. If found guilty, they may be sentenced to death by hanging or life imprisonment and caning of not less than 15 strokes.
  • Second charge: Possessing 24.58g of ketamine and 2.75g of methamphetamine respectively at the same time and place, violating Section 12 (3) of the same Act. If found guilty, they may be fined RM100,000, or jailed for up to five years, or both.

Both defendants are NOT allowed bail, and the court has set March 7 for the submission of the chemical documentation report.
