The days of MCO can be long and tiresome. If you’ve been feeling a little demotivated lately, fret not! We’ve got a method that we like to use to recover from this: by appreciating the things we’re grateful for to remind ourselves that “hey, it might not be so bad after all!”. Don’t have anything that comes to mind? Then read this list to find out what other Malaysians are sharing.

1. The ability to WFH and spend more time on ourselves and our family

Working from home may be tricky at first but it does have its upsides. For instance, we can practice better work-life balance since we no longer have to face hours of commute daily! We can also spend more time with our family instead of just seeing them for one meal per day.

2. The selfless volunteers at vaccination centres who are always so friendly and helpful

If you’ve had the opportunity to receive your jab, you’ve probably noticed how efficient and hardworking the vaccination centre workers are. And it’s worth noting that most of these people are actually volunteers. Even if it’s tiring for them to assist hundreds of Malaysians per day, we could hardly tell because they’re always so kind and helpful!

3. Our loved ones who are staying healthy and have been vaccinated!

With the vaccination rates climbing higher each day, it’s comforting to know that our family members and friends are healthy, safe and now better protected, especially if they’ve been vaccinated! We’re also grateful to see that we’re one huge step closer to having things returning to normal. We’re almost there, guys!

4. More Malaysians are taking the effort to be more self-aware of mental health issues

Ever since the MCO started, we’ve seen more Malaysians spreading awareness of the importance of mental health issues, which has spurred more open discussions about this topic. It has also made us realise the importance of checking up on our loved ones. We may be separated physically, but the MCO has connected us virtually more than ever!

5. The dedicated frontliners who are giving their all to serve the nation (including everyday workers!)

These frontliners are working long hours in multiple layers of PPE uniform and exposing themselves to the virus every single day. Not only that, they’re even sacrificing time with their family, which shows just how dedicated they are to the job!

Not just the doctors but other everyday workers, such as courier/food delivery drivers, should also be given some credit. These abang drivers go to hundreds of houses each day which makes their job just as risky as the frontliners’ but they’d still continue to deliver come rain or shine.

Salute to all frontliners and abang delivery! ?

There are also other frontliners out there who are working hard to serve us, like public transport drivers, hospital cleaners and more. Without them, our worlds would grind to a halt. This is why we believe it’s time to show these frontliners the appreciation that they truly deserve.

In fact, this Merdeka video released by Lalamove has done an amazing job in capturing the blood, sweat and tears that these frontliners put into their work every single day. Watch it here:

The video is entitled “Bersyukur Kerana Anda” which means “Thankful For You” and it portrays the whirlwind of a journey that our frontliners have been through. We can see how even though they’re everyday Malaysians like us, they have gone above and beyond to serve their country.

From medical staff, police and military officers to everyday workers like delivery riders, they all played an important role in keeping the country moving in our fight to achieve our ‘Merdeka’ from these troubling times and we can’t thank them enough for their resolute efforts!

Huge props to Lalamove for releasing this beautiful Merdeka video as a reminder to celebrate these frontliners and show our gratitude to our everyday heroes!

If this video inspires you to start showing more appreciation to our frontliners, why not start by sharing it on your social media feed to get this inspiring message across to the people around us. Also, remember to always thank these frontliners whenever we encounter them! ?
