Just recently, Malaysians were shocked when it was discovered that Americans were creating a holiday-themed drink by infusing that traditional cough syrup we know and love into bubble milk tea. Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa has been rather popular especially among the Westerners as they have discovered the goodness of this traditional cough syrup but it looks like they are not the first to create such a drink!

If you’re curious and really want to try it, you don’t even have to go far; just hop on over to our neighbour’s land down south. Apparently, a bubble tea shop known as Woobbee in Singapore has already created this monstrosity quirky concoction since February 2018, based on their social media pages.

The drink is known as Herbal Mint Milk Tea which doesn’t give you a clue that it’s made with Pei Pa Koa until you see its description and it comes with free toppings as well. The drink is made with black tea and is available in two sizes, regular and large, that costs S$4.10 (RM12.48) and S$5.80 (RM17.66) respectively. Not too expensive!

For those who prefer it less sweet (and less sinful), Woobbee also has a non-milk tea version that is only 150 calories. Based on their description, this version has a stronger minty taste so if you really love the taste of Pei Pa Koa, you can try this one.

While these cough syrup drinks are not on their site’s menu, it looks like it is available in their outlets around Singapore instead. If a Pei Pa Koa flavoured bubble tea is not your cup of tea (literally), then don’t worry because they have many other classic flavours like Oolong Milk Tea, Honey Milk Tea and Green Milk Tea.

They have three outlets around Singapore in Chinatown Point, Shaw Tower, and Tanjong Pagar Plaza. You can find the addresses here.

Now, this has us wondering, when would this drink make its way to our Malaysian shores? Would you be interested to try it?
