We get that police officers in Malaysia have their own lives after working hours and want to enjoy themselves after a long day at work but they definitely shouldn’t abuse their powers while doing so. Just yesterday (June 24), an off-duty policeman was having a little get-together with his friends at a karaoke joint in Kepong but during this time, he had a scuffle with another group of people.

According to China Press, the incident took place at a karaoke centre located on the fifth floor of a shopping mall in Kepong at around 8am. The policeman and his group of friends had been enjoying themselves when they encountered another group of men who were also at the entertainment outlet.

Apparently, they were inside the karaoke room when a group of men suddenly came in and started to punch the police officer’s friends. The policeman tried to stop the fight when suddenly, one of the men shoved him. He then took out his gun and used it to clobber one of the men’s heads. When this did not help, he decided to shoot the wall five times. That was unexpected!

After firing five times, the group of men ran off and escaped, leaving the other group there. The next day, one of the men, a 38-year-old unemployed person from Segambut lodged a police report against the officer. When the police received the report, they quickly investigated and discovered that the gunman was actually one of their own! The suspect is reported to be a 36-year-old corporal who is from the Gombak district and when the police went to that police station, he was working there while pretending that nothing had happened. Daring, eh!

They confiscated his Smith & Wesson pistol along with 25 bullets and five empty shells. When they asked the corporal, he said that on that morning, he was there with six other friends. However, the other group started the fight and he had tried to stop them from fighting.

Hence, he pulled out his gun to scare them off by shooting the wall. He explained that the other group fled immediately and that he went home directly after as he was feeling drunk.

Somehow, I don’t think a police officer’s gun is meant to be used this way!
