A collapsed drain along Jalan Pantai Permai in Kampung Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur collapsed last night (August 26), leaving a HUGE hole along the road.
Fortunately, no deaths or injuries were reported. In a Facebook post by DBKL this noon (August 27), the Kuala Lumpur City Hall said they were well aware of the incident, and necessary steps have been taken to close off the area.
“The area has been closed off with water barriers, safety tapes and cones at around 10 PM.”
The collapsed drain has also caused part of the sidewalk to collapse, based on the photos shared by DBKL.
At the time of writing, the damage is under control and has not spread to the residential areas. The comment section of the post, however, has been locked by DBKL.
Just recently, it was also reported that sunken roads were spotted near the sinkhole in Masjid India. The authorities have since cordoned off the area and officers were deployed to stop the public from accessing the dangerous areas.
The traders in the area also revealed that they had informed DBKL about the sunken roads and prompt actions were taken immediately. Unfortunately, the same problems persist.
As of now, the rescue team is still working tirelessly to locate Vijayaletchumi, the Indian national who fell into the sinkhole last Friday (August 23).
We thank DBKL for taking prompt action in closing off the area in Jalan Pantai Permai and hopefully, everyone in the area will be safe.
