We all know that getting a Starbucks every now and then can really do the soul some good. But that wasn’t the case for this unfortunate customer who ended up finding a cockroach at the bottom of her iced mocha!
That’s right. A cockroach.
Wan Nuraisya had gone to the outlet in Malacca Raya and ordered an iced mocha on the 23rd of August. However, she found a disgusting surprise at the bottom of her cup when she reached home!
She immediately sent Starbucks a direct message:

How gross! Her friend then posted up the picture on twitter, and tagged Starbucks headquarters to get a response.

The following day, Starbucks Malaysia responded to the twitter thread stating that they sent Wan a message on Facebook in regards to the issue.

However, according to Wan, when she made a complaint to the outlet, she was told that while the staff had checked the CCTV, they were unable to clearly see what was inside her drink.
She said that all she was given was an apology, with nothing in black and white stating that they had rectified or acknowledged the problem!
Some netizens who saw the viral image told her that she should get compensation of free drinks for the rest of the year

Well, he has a point!
Most people who read about this incident shared their disgust. I, myself, will NOT be able to live knowing I finished a drink with a full adult sized cockroach in there T_T.
Wan mentioned that while she insisted on proper paper documentation of the incident, her request was not obliged! She was however compensated with a free drink, cake, and a voucher for her troubles.
Nonetheless she praised the outlet representative for making the effort to meet up with her.
Lesson learnt folks, be aware of what’s in your drink! You never know what you may find at the bottom that could have you swearing off coffee forever!
