Childhood is the most important part of life. Your upbringing is likely to shape your adulthood, and is often incomplete if 1 of your parent figures were absent.

As for Cik B, the daughter of Malaysian businesswoman Dato Sri Vida, her father has always been absent in her live. In a recent podcast by Buka Mulut, Cik B said her father has been absent since she was 2 to 3 years old.

Cik B, who is only 19 this year, was raised by DSV alone who has been not only a mother figure, but also a father figure and a “bestie” to Cik B.

“All these while, I have always assumed my mum is my everything, including a father figure.”

Is Cik B still in touch with her father? In the podcast, Cik B said not anymore, but her father has been trying to get her contact number from Cik B’s colleagues.

“Yes, he still reaches out to me via DM, and yes, regardless, he is still my father but I don’t have any conversations with him. He is only looking for me when I’m all grown up.”

Cik B also said her mum would give some money to her ex-husband just so that he could keep his distance from the family.

“Whatever he had done to my mum in front of me, I will never forget that. I’m traumatised. With him, with all men.”

The young entrepreneur added that since the incident, she had learnt about the importance of being the protective figure in the house, especially protecting her mother from all harm.

“I am protective over my mum. Really protective. My dad would usually DM me and just say hi. I didn’t even save his contact information.”

You can listen to the full podcast below.

Cik B, however, did not mention what exactly her father had done in the past. Some dirty laundry are not meant to be shared and regardless, we wish Cik B and her mum nothing but a life full of success and happiness.
