It’s the beginning of the school year, and many eager parents are already trying to get used to the routine of getting up early, waking their kids, and sending them off to school. For many of us, those are fond fond memories that we keep with us until adulthood.

But in a tragic turn of events, a pair of parents would never be able to experience this routine that so many families take for granted, in a story that was recently reported by Sin Chew Daily.

The horrific incident happened in Cheras on the very first day of school for all Malaysian students (2nd January 2020), when the unnamed parents woke up, got ready, and did what every other parent across the country would do: they walked into their daughter’s room to wake her up for school.

Instead of finding her asleep in bed however, they made the devastating discovery that their very own 10-year-old daughter had committed suicide by hanging herself in her room. Despite rushing her to the hospital, she was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival. Members of the local police reportedly received reports of the incident at 5.30 am yesterday.

Upon investigation, the parents of the deceased said that they last saw her alive the night before at 9.00 pm, before she was about to head to bed.

“The forensic team did not find any traces of criminal elements during the on-site investigation, and statements recorded from the family did not yield any suspicious circumstances.” said Kajang deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Sabri Abdullah.

The deceased’s body has since been sent to Serdang Hospital for an autopsy.
