Filling our car up with fuel is a daily ordeal that you either love or hate.

Not only are you required to line up for a place, get into long lines to pay for fuel, following all the rules in place and start refuelling it is no wonder that some of us will think that it is okay to not take safety seriously and skip a step.

One individual did just that and paid case for his carelessness when his failure to turn his engine off resulted in severe burns and his car set on fire.

Taking to Facebook, Info Roadblock JPJ/Polis shared how absent-mindedness and the tak apa attitude may just cost you your life.

In the incident that took place around 8 pm at a gas station in Seri Kembangan, the Fire and Rescue Department said that 10% of the fire was located at 10% of the right-hand side passenger door with 30% of the fire occurring at the petrol pump.

The victim suffered burns on both arm and feet.

Stating that the victim has been sent to the Serdang Hospital, Deputy Chairman of Operations Bomba Selangor said that the source of the fire came from the absent-mindedness of the individual for failing to shut his engine off before refuelling.

We urge members of the public to follow all safety regulations in place while refuelling.
