Some restaurants don’t allow their customers to bring outside food and beverage. As customers, we tend to forget or overlook the signs that say so at times.
But that doesn’t mean we deserve to be scolded or yelled at. In a viral post shared in the Facebook group 蒲种大新闻Puchong News Pages, a customer shared her terrible experience at a Kopitiam in Puchong, where her husband and she were scolded by the restaurant’s boss for bringing outside drinks.
“He told us to keep our water bottles away.”
Her husband, who was not happy with how they were approached walked to the boss and asked him,
“Could you not tell us properly?”
The wife also clarified that when they were approached by the boss, they had already ordered their food, and they would’ve been happy to purchase drinks from the place if they were told nicely.
Unfortunately, the situation escalated. In a video, the boss was seen having a verbal argument with the pair.
“Anyone with a brain would’ve known that outside drinks are not allowed!”
The boss’ wife tried to ease the tension but according to the customer, her words did not make the situation any better.
“Let’s not argue with poor customers like them,” she told her husband, the boss of the restaurant.
The customer also admitted to having overlooked the sign in the shop that stated “Outside food and drinks are not allowed.”
“It was my 1st time here. We bought our own water because my kid has been coughing recently.”
She explained that if the boss had properly conveyed his message, the family would’ve been happy to try out their drinks.
“With how he approached us, any customer would’ve ran away!”
When conveying a message, your tone makes a whole lot of difference. As a customer, how would you react if you were approached by the manager of the premise improperly?
