Recently, a social media post went viral after Muhammad Amirul Faiz Kamarulzaman, the founder of the popular dessert brand Rizzquesillo, shared a humorous encounter with a customer at his small stall in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
The visitor, a tourist from Australia, revealed that he had been visiting Rizzquesillo every day during his stay in Malaysia. The tourist was certainly not shy about expressing his love for the dessert.

“It’s better than alcohol”
“This caramel quesillo is amazing. I’ve been in Kuala Lumpur for a week, and I’ve come here every day. This is the best quesillo I’ve ever had,” the tourist said, as shared in the Threads post.
Quesillo, a dessert originating from Latin America, resembles caramel pudding but is distinguished by its denser, creamier texture, subtle bittersweet flavour, and irresistibly smooth, melt-in-your-mouth consistency. Noticing the tourist’s excitement, the vendor offered him a complimentary sample while he waited in line to purchase two servings.
“Oh wow, this is amazing! You have to try this. If you’re in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this is even better than alcohol, and definitely healthier too,” the visitor exclaimed.

The RM15 dessert phenomenon
In case you missed it, Amirul’s Quesillo has been making its rounds on social media for the past month, not only for its price but also for the massive crowds that Amirul manages to draw. The quesillo is sold for RM15 a slice and has become a phenomenon in Bukit Bintang, where the stall is located.
The craze is not limited to locals, as international tourists are also flocking to the stall to get a taste of the famous caramel quesillo, proving that a simple yet indulgent dessert can capture the hearts of Malaysians and visitors alike.
Success rooted in humility
Malaysian social media users shared their thoughts on why Amirul’s quesillo, despite its price, has managed to secure so many loyal customers.
Some attributed it to the high standards of hygiene maintained at the stall, while others cited the owner’s character.

As one commenter noted: “Most importantly, the seller himself is humble.”
