On Tuesday (30 April), Hong Kong police found a woman on her bed with one of her eyes dangling from its socket. The victim, who is bedridden, was allegedly assaulted by her own sister but the reason for the suspect’s actions are unknown.

It was about 3am when neighbours heard screams coming from the sisters’ apartment on Sun Chun Street in Tai Hang before they alerted the police, who arrived at the house and found the 66-year-old victim lying unconscious on her bed with her eyes gouged out.

It is believed that her 59-year-old sister had dug out the eye using just her hand.

The Straits Times reported from Ming Pao that both the women have not been identified although it was revealed that the suspect has a moderate intellectual disability. She is the youngest in the family and lives with two of her sisters in the same apartment.

The victim was previously diagnosed with fibroma and spinal disease which caused her to be bedridden. It is also understood that the family lives on government aid and income from the second sister, who is an office worker.

This is quite sad. Must’ve been such a painful ordeal for the victim who couldn’t do anything to help herself.
