They were using a mop to wipe down the shelves

A photo circulating online shows 2 female employees in store aprons cleaning the bread shelves, with one using a mop to wipe them down and a mop bucket nearby.

Dim Sum Daily also mentioned that while the mop might’ve been meant for the shelves, the public pointed out that mops are primarily used for floor cleaning.

The photo quickly sparked discussions online, with many people criticising the bakery’s hygiene practices.

The worker has agreed to resign

After the incident, the bakery issued an apology and explained that the employee involved had resigned.

They acknowledged the employee’s inappropriate actions while cleaning the bread shelves and confirmed that the said employee had accepted the request for resignation.

Residents in the area also noticed that the bakery suspended operations for a day and had a female employee thoroughly clean the bread shelves with a cloth.

The food hygiene authorities have also issued a warning notice to the said bakery, as reported by Sinar Harian.
