The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) recently received a call from a member of the public, for the first time ever, to rescue a mobile phone.
According to a report by Kosmo, a Jelebu District Civil Defence Officer, Lt (PA) Mohd. Najib Abdul Karim, shared that his department received the call at around 11:45am on July 12 (Saturday) from a woman in her 20s, asking for help to retrieve her iPhone that had fallen down a cliff at Bukit Batu Sawa, Negeri Sembilan.

“Upon arriving at Bukit Batu Sawa, the APM team found the victim and her friends at the location. APM officers wore personal protective equipment (PPE) and prepared equipment used to descend the steep cliff,”
“The depth to descend was estimated to be about 10 meters with a smooth rock surface. The gadget was successfully brought up and handed over to its owner. The operation was completed at 1:38pm,” he explained.

Lt (PA) Mohd. Najib Abdul Karim added that this was the first time that his department had received a call in regards to this special service, as they had only been involved in operations to help victims of accidents, floods, and more.
