Ever since the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), every citizen is required to stay at home and only step out of our homes when it is absolutely necessary. While most of us are working comfortably from home with sufficient food supplies, there are homeless people who has nowhere to go to.

Fortunately, the homeless people in Kuala Lumpur are currently being taken care of by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and more than 800 of them have been placed at four community centres in the city. Some of us may wonder where they would go to after the MCO is lifted, well, the good news is that they will be offered jobs!

According to Free Malaysia Today, these homeless people will be vetted and provided training so that they can take up jobs as general workers at DBKL or production operators at factories. Federal Territories Minister, Annuar Musa, stated that the Ministry does not want homeless people to wander on the streets anymore. These future workers are also expected to start working on 1 May if the MCO does not extend beyond 28 April. That’s soon!

“After the MCO ends, we do not want them to wander in the streets anymore. We will give them two options to take up jobs as general workers or production operators. They are expected to start work on 1 May, if the MCO does not extend beyond the end of April.”

Annuar Musa also mentioned that these workers will be paid between RM1,200 to RM1,4000 and he had instructed the DBKL to come up with a plan so that the homeless community will not have to live on the streets anymore.

“I have instructed DBKL to come up with this plan so that the homeless community will not have to live on the streets anymore,” said Annuar Musa.
