As kids, car license plates were always fascinating to us, and sometimes, even as adults, we would find funny ones and laugh over them with our loved ones.

Nowadays, the Road Transport Department (also known as JPJ) announces on their social media accounts whenever a new license plate series will be coming up.

For this week, the announcement was for a Perak series, the ANJ series. As it reminds many Malaysians of a popular Malay curse word, anjing which literally means dog in English, it is understandable that most netizens found it funny.

The announcement post on Facebook was met with much enthusiasm: more than 2,000 reactions and comments and it was shared by more than 1,000 individuals.

Many gems were found in the comments section, where ideas for the license plates were thrown around.

Most comments were just netizens making up a variation of the curse word with the license plates, while others tried to make names for it.

“The most sought after number might be ANJ 3.”

Some, however, just took this chance to curse openly to amuse others.

If you would like to join this bid for an ANJing license plate, you can do so by registering on JPJBid. The bid has started and will end at 10 pm on January 10. You will know the results the next day, on January 11.

If given a chance to choose your license plate, what will you choose? Let us know in the comments! It better not be PUK 1…
