Taking her late mother’s wishes to heart to take care of her sister, a Malaysian woman has gone above and beyond in order to fulfill her sister’s desire to run a business.
Taking to the Autisme Malaysia Facebook group, Humey Eraa shared how she opened a small RM1 store in front of their home in Kampung Bebuloh Laut, Labuan, so that her sister, who has austism, can learn from experience.
She wrote, “I did this specially for my autistic sister to learn the skills of running a business even though it’s beginning with the sales of only RM1”.
To make things easier for her sister to pick up, she had also set up a spreadsheet for her sister to fill in when she gets a sale.
“I made a sales record using ticks to make simplify calculations. There are different coloured ticks for cash and cashless payments.”
“Alhamdulillah, this is a good start for her to learn to be independent should one day I catch up to my late mother,” she added.
Following the passing of their mother, Humey’s sister had been facing difficulties when going back to school.
“I can’t send my sister to the hostel anymore, after my late mother passed, she has become very sensitive at the hostel and easily throws tantrums. When she is at home, alhamdulillah, she is calmer.”
“She can sell products while reading books, memorising the Quran and watching movies,” Humey explained.
It is truly amazing to see how Humey has worked around her sister’s abilities and given her an opportunity to learn a skill that’ll be useful for her future.
Kudos, Humey!
