Kubang Pasu District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim, said the incident occurred around 8:45 am when a 37-year-old male bus driver was stopping in front of the bus stop to pick up passengers before being hit from behind by another bus driven by a 32-year-old man.

“The impact of the collision caused the bus in front to slide forward and hit the road barrier before crushing the victim who was walking and waiting for her turn to board the bus.”

“As a result of the accident, the victim, who was from Johor Bahru, was sent to the hospital before being confirmed dead during treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement.

University offers compensation & assistance

Following the incident, it has been reported that the university is offering comprehensive support to the family of the student. This includes managing her remains until the burial process is completed.

He added that the university will offer four types of assistance: a maximum of RM30,000 in student insurance compensation, RM1,500 in student funeral benefits, RM2,000 in bereavement support from Yayasan Perkasa Siswa, and full logistical support to return the remains to the family’s hometown.

He also confirmed that UUM is fully cooperating with the police, who are leading the investigation. He noted that the university has yet to receive the complete accident report.
