What used to be a website for COVID-19 and its information on vaccines, treatment, and testing is now a new page on a lab leak” theory, which implies the origins of the pandemic that struck the world in 2019.

Thanks to the Trump administration, the White House has turned the covid.gov into a website on the “origins” of the COVID-19 virus, showing US President Trump walking between the words “lab” and “leak”.

It mentions that Wuhan, China, where the coronavirus first began spreading, is home to a research lab with a history of conducting virus research with “inadequate biosafety levels”.

Dr Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is also accused of pushing a “preferred narrative” that COVID-19 originated in nature. Both COVID.gov and COVIDTESTS.gov now redirect to a site promoting the “lab leak” theory.

The report says vaccines “undoubtedly saved millions of lives by diminishing the likelihood of severe disease and death” but also says the Biden administration and public health officials exaggerated their effectiveness.

The new site also says preventative measures such as mask mandates, social distancing, and lockdown restrictions caused more harm than good and calls out “failures” of the pandemic response by the World Health Organisation and National Institutes of Health.

The origins of the virus, however, have never been officially proven.

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the US recorded its first COVID-19 case in January 2020 before the infection spread worldwide, initiating lockdown in all countries.

What do you think of the new website and the “lab leak” theory?
