Out of fear of being scolded by his wife for spending his entire month’s salary, including lending some to a female friend, a security guard decided to make a false police report on allegedly getting robbed.
According to a report by Harian Metro, the Kemaman District Police Chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan shared that the 65-year-old man’s deception was uncovered after the police conducted their investigation.
The man, who works as a security guard, was on duty in the Teluk Kalong industrial area before he made his way to the Chukai police station at 8am yesterday (August 11), to make the false report.
“The man claimed to have withdrawn money at a petrol station in Kijal and was on his way home in Teluk Kalong when the car he was driving was stopped by a Rohingya man who asked for help to send his friend, who was lying down, to a clinic,”
“When he got out of the vehicle, he claimed that the Rohingya man who stopped his car pointed a knife at him from behind, while the man who was lying down had gotten up and pointed a machete at his stomach,” Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan explained.
The Rohingya men then allegedly took RM1,100 out of the man’s pocket and fled on a motorcycle.
However, none of that is true.
While the police were investigating the matter, the man confessed that the robbery never actually happened.
“He made a false report because he was desperate and afraid to tell his wife that his salary, including her alimony, had been used up,” Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan explained, adding that the man confessed to also borrowing some of his salary to a female friend.
Well, prior to his false report, the man would have only been in trouble with his wife. Now, he is also in trouble with the police for making a false report.
This case is now being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant.
