Adeline Chang recently claimed a boutique hotel in Damansara Uptown, PJ, scammed her out of RM450, after her Debit card was used by her sister, Alice Chang, to check in.

Using a Facebook account with a different name, Adeline shared a couple of videos of her confronting the concierge and blaming him for not checking if Alice was the real owner of the debit card. Adeline said she was notified of a transaction of RM450 for 5 days of stay at the boutique hotel, from July 27 to 31.

“If your Debit card was stolen, would you be okay with the thief using it for something else?”

Despite being occupied with another guest and a phone call, Adeline continued to interrupt him and ask for a refund, to which the concierge refused before telling her to lodge a police report. The concierge also told Adeline to wait for the manager of the hotel to come in, so that she could speak to the person in charge.

“I can’t refund you. We’ll have to wait for the management tomorrow morning, so please come back again.”

Adeline, however, insisted on a refund because she had never stayed at the hotel, and had lodged a police report on the same night (July 29) about the matter before visiting the hotel.

Just last night (July 30), when the PIC showed up, Adeline had a different version of the story.

This time, she claimed that Alice had paid for a 5-night stay, but was allegedly chased out by the hotel’s management on the 3rd day.

Adeline was locked out of the hotel until PDRM officers from the Damansara Police Station arrived. Adeline told the police officers that her sister was denied her stay, despite paying the full amount, but the PIC told the police officers that a couple of days back, Adeline claimed she had no idea who had used her debit card.

The officers then asked both parties to continue the conversation at the police station.

“My sister did not blame me, I wonder why?”

In a Facebook post, Alice admitted to taking Adeline’s debit card because she “didn’t have enough money.” Initially, in another post, Alice swore that she did not steal Adeline’s debit card and said she had never stayed in the hotel.

Alice, however, was shocked that her sister did not blame her for using her debit card. The management of the boutique hotel chain, as of the time of writing, has yet to respond to the matter.
