Oftentimes, police officers and fire and rescue personnel who are handlers to K9s tend to build strong bonds with their dogs.
Hence, it is heartbreaking when they have to part ways.
The Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Negeri Sarawak took to their Facebook page to showcase the heartbreaking scene of their fellow Abang Bomba breaking down in tears at his K9 counterpart’s funeral.
They wrote, “PBK Steven Anak Ambu, 47-years-old (handler) could not hold back his tears after placing Cliff for the last time. He was then calmed down by Datu Khiruddin Drahman@Hussaini, Sarawak State JBPM Director.”
“Your services have been huge for the country. Thank you, Mr. Steven. Thank you, Cliff.”
In the post, the Abang Bomba could be seen kneeling and wiping his tears as his K9 counterpart lays in its grave. What a heartbreaking sight!
According to a report by Harian Metro, Cliff, the English Springer Spaniel who was involved in countless operations to find missing people, had died from bladder cancer on December 25 (Monday).
It’s body was buried at the Serian Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Sarawak, on January 4 (Thursday) and flowers were sprinkled on it’s grave as a sign of respect.
“Since serving at JBPM Sarawak in 2018, Cliff has been involved in many operations to find missing people in forests in addition to searching for drowning victims in rivers throughout Sarawak,”
“The contributions of this dog are too great in the success of operations carried out, therefore it is appropriate that honour be given to him who died in service,” shared Datu Khiruddin Drahman.
Cliff is now playing freely in the endless fields in the sky and will forever be missed.
