The year has started off with a bang as Malaysians have been blessed with live performances from some of our favourite artists recently.
American pop-rock band OneRepublic recently took the stage at Hall 5, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Wednesday (1st March). This performance marked their first comeback since Covid-19 as they last performed in Malaysia back in 2018.
The 6-member team composed of Ryan Tedder, Eddie Fisher, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Brent Kutzle and Brian Willet drove their Malaysian fans wild as they opened their KL concert with hit songs “Secrets” and “Good Life.”
The audience was also treated with the band’s other top pieces including “Stop and Stare,” “Love Runs Out,” “Counting Stars” and their most recent chart topper “I Ain’t Worried.”
Mid-show, Tedder further hyped up the crowd, and announced that the band planned to perform other hit songs recorded by other artists which were co-written by the frontman.
The lead singer called the surprise a “concert within a concert,” saying the audience deserved to enjoy other songs and to think of it as 2 concerts in one!
The band performed Beyoncé’s “Halo,” Adele’s “Rumor Has It,” Lil Nas X’s “That’s What I Want” and Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker.”
OneRepublic also successfully turned the crowd into a massive karaoke centre, giving the audience a tune to sing along to while the band performed 2007 hit single “Apologize.”
Before capping off their concert with “If I Lose Myself,” the band said they wish to return to the country soon.
Malaysia is the band’s fourth stop after performing for their fans in the Phillippines, Indonesia, and Singapore. They will then head to Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan to cap off their tour.
The concert was opened by Canadian sensation and social media star Jessia, who performed some of her hit pieces including “Nobody Hates You,” “Next Time,” and unreleased single “Without You.”
Did you go to the concert? What did you think of their performance?
