A freak accident on June 9 claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students after their bus crashed into a Perodua Alza in Perak, allegedly due to faulty brakes.

The 39-year-old bus driver broke his silence, apologising and denying claims that he was overtaking or speeding, saying he was actually trying to avoid hitting other vehicles.

“I believe he had no intention of speeding”

The father of one of the students who died in the tragic crash has spoken out, addressing the rumours surrounding the incident and saying that what happened to his sixth child out of seven siblings was God’s will.

In a heartbreaking interview, the father of the late Muhammad Adib Hazim expressed that he has forgiven the bus driver and bears no resentment over what happened, according to Sinar Harian.

“Allah loves Adib. We accept what happened, and we hold no grudge against the driver despite all the things being said about him,” he said.

He also explained that his decision to forgive the driver came from the belief that there was no ill intention behind the accident.

“Our son passed away peacefully. I believe the driver has a family too, and he didn’t mean to speed. As for forgiveness, let him seek it from God.”

“I wasn’t speeding like people are saying online”

Previously, WORLD OF BUZZ reported that Mohd Amirul Fadhil Zulkifle, who’s been driving buses since 2016, said the bus was functioning normally until it reached the elephant crossing bridge in Gerik, when the brakes suddenly gave out.

“I want to apologise to all the families of the victims and the students involved in the accident. What happened was because the bus brakes suddenly stopped working. I tried everything I could, but the air pressure was gone, so nothing worked, not even the handbrake or the gear shift,”

He also shared that he shouted at the students to brace themselves right before the bus collided with a Perodua Alza.

“Those sitting in front might’ve heard me, but most of the students at the back were asleep and probably thought I was just yelling out of anger. I wasn’t speeding like people are saying online,” he added.
