The pain to bid farewell to someone who’s not going to make it is tormenting and unimaginable.

Just recently, a Malaysian, Anna shared a memory on her Instagram page which shows the final days of her late son, Zarif who passed away due to kidney failure. In the video, the nurses in a hospital in KL are seen crying and hugging the late Zarif before bidding farewell to him following his discharge from the hospital.

They knew that his illness was untreatable and there were no more medications that could help him. Anna brought her son home and 9 days later, Zarif passed away.

He was only 12 years old.

The incident actually happened nearly 3 years back in May 2020, but Anna decided to reshare the post, which is specially dedicated to the frontliners of the hospital as a token of appreciation for taking care of the late Zarif.

“Thank you dear nurses for your care and love towards Zarif,” Anna said.

In her post, Anna also said that Zarif’s dialysis treatment began in 2018, and he had to undergo the process 3 times a week. Each session would take around 4 hours.

For children, the process is not only time-consuming but it’s also not a walk in the park as children’s tolerance can be far weaker than adults.

“Side effects like headaches, vomitting, stomach & leg cramps were expected and Zarif had to be closely monitored during the process,” Anna explained.

She added that the nurses in the hospital were part of Zarif’s family too, and that was not only because of their skills and patience but also the amount of time spent with the little angel.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Anna said that her late son was diagnosed with PUV (Posterior Urethral Valve), and the illness was detected way back when Zarif was still in the womb.

“In short, PUV interfered with Zarif’s outflow of urine. The urine was refluxed back to his kidney and it became dilated, which damaged his kidney,” Anna explained.

Anna also told WORLD OF BUZZ that even with a corrective surgical process, the damage to the kidney was irreversible, and he had a 70:30 kidney function. The condition became worse when Zarif was 10, and he was admitted to the ICU after collapsing on 31 December 2017.

You can watch the clip below.

To Anna, it is a memory that will stay in her mind forever. Rest in peace, little Zarif, and to all the frontliners out there who are always doing their best to care for patients, thank you.
