It’s no secret that people with disabilities want to work, which is why it is sad when they are overlooked for full time positions.

Thankfully, there are still those out there who are progressive when it comes to hiring.

Uniqlo Malaysia took to their Facebook page to showcase a retail training initiative they held at one of their outlets for students with learning disabilities from the Cheshire Home.

They wrote,

“We recently held a retail training experience at UNIQLO Aeon Metro Prima for students with learning disabilities from Cheshire Home, teaching them the UNIQLO way to fold clothes, provide customer service in the fitting room and cashier, and even style a mannequin.”

“We believe that with equal access to education, people with disabilities can bring a range of skills and contribute to the workplace, as ours have proven.”

Such initiatives open doors for people with disabilities to be able to contribute to society and make an honest living for themselves and their families.

While most companies and employers overlook the disabled community due to fears of inconvenience, such initiatives are truly groundbreaking and exemplary and it showcases how inclusive Uniqlo truly is.

Malaysians, do take note. Kudos, Uniqlo Malaysia.
