During these stressful, uncertain times, most of us are probably already sick of staying at home and truth be told, it is the safest place as of now. But if we follow SOPs and constantly sanitise ourselves, we don’t have to stay cooped up.

For your ultimate relaxation, we have just the place! The best thing about it is that it is located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Introducing KLoé hotel!

We were lucky enough to be given a chance to review the hotel and without further ado, we’ll get straight to that!

Location

KLoé hotel is located in the heart of Bukit Bintang and it is less than a 10-minute walk to Pavillion. You can park your car in the basement of the hotel and go for retail therapy at the Pavilion/Lot 10 area. They are also super close to various restaurants such as The Tokyo Restaurant (famous cheesecake), KGB, Calia and also PAUL bakery. Or, you can go for a street food binge at Jalan Alor or Jalan Imbi! However, if you’re looking for something fancier, KLoé hotel is situated right next to Plane in The City.

Atmosphere

Upon entering the lobby, we were greeted with automated hand sanitisers and super friendly staff wearing masks. The lobby was marked out with red tape and posters to encourage social distancing. Proper SOPs are in place and throughout our whole stay, there was not even an instance where the staff slacked off. The space is decorated tastefully and certainly aesthetically pleasing, making your photos instantly IG-worthy. It’s also pleasantly scented with the smell of coffee and freshly-baked goods wafting in the air from the conjoining Lucky Coffee Bar.

Rooms

There are 80 rooms in KLoé hotel along with 5 artist lounges. The rooms are separated into the city rooms, courtyard rooms and five different types of lofts, namely the room to taste (food), room to grow (gardening), room to listen (vinyl records), room to read (books) and room to draw (drawing & painting). These rooms were built and decorated with creative individuals in mind.

The city rooms and courtyard rooms are equipped with comfy beds, a mini-fridge and the best thing is probably the rainfall shower and the soaps. Like other hotels, the temperature can be adjusted and you can have a steaming hot shower or a cool refreshing one. Instead of some cheap, generic shampoo and body wash, KLoé hotel gives the best for their guests by putting out AESOP shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The smell of those products in addition to the colour scheme of the place definitely put us into a more relaxed, chipper mood.

Food

There’s a small cafe called Lucky Coffee Bar in the boutique hotel’s lobby and they offer nitro beverages and also freshly baked pastries. However, the main star is, of course, the MONROE restaurant in-house. MONROE is a super chic, American-inspired diner restaurant with friendly staff and a minimalistic menu.

The yummy dessert consisting of coconut milk, sago, black glutinous rice and gula melaka.

The portions are big and the food is prepared with the utmost care. As we had our lunch quite late, the desserts had already run out but the chef whipped out something quick, scrumptious and off the menu for us. After the meal, we were asked by the ever-friendly staff on feedback and suggestions to improve. A special shout-out goes to Zafran and Rani who were especially accommodating and willing to answer all our questions.

Other amenities

The hotel has several lounge spots, namely in the lobby, beside the lobby and by the pool. The pool was not open in accordance with government regulations but, B.est Mind & Body which is the gym/fitness centre is open. They offer yoga, fitness and meditation classes for you to complete your zen staycation.

Overall

In a nutshell, KLoé definitely whisked us away from our daily stress and struggles even if it was just for a short weekend staycation. After seeing how the employees worked and complied with the SOPs, we were able to completely let go and allow ourselves to be pampered fully. Even though it is located in the heart of the city, the rooms were quiet and disconnected in the best way possible. Everything about KLoé hotel is perfect, even down to the placement of their plants. So if you’re considering a staycation, KLoé hotel might be the one for you.

Right now, they are offering a discounted price for their rooms (50% for city rooms & 30% for the rest, even the lofts). It’s definitely a bang for your buck and worthy of every penny that you spend. So if you’re okay with the idea of going out and destressing during these troubling times, consider KLoé.
