A 9-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into a sewage pit at a primary school in Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan, earlier today.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad was quoted by BERNAMA as saying that the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report on the incident at around 11 AM today.

A 9-year-old boy was killed after falling into a sewage pit during his school’s sports event
Alzafny Ahmad, in a statement, added that preliminary investigations found that the victim was seen by a member of the public falling into the sewage pit while at a sports meet taking place at the school.
Meanwhile, Sinar Harian reported that the victim, who was a student at the school and the son of the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PIBG) chairman, fell into the 1.8-metre-deep sewage pit at around 9 AM.
While Alzafny Ahmad said that the sewage pit was uncovered, the Sinar Harian report claimed that it had a cover made out of fibre.
Lenggeng assemblyperson (ADUN), Datuk Mohd Asna Amin, who was at the school to officiate the sports meet event, told Sinar Harian that he was informed of the incident and immediately went to the location.

The Lenggeng ADUN said that a local resident dived into the sewage pit to extricate the victim.
“The victim was rushed to the surface. The victim was believed to have been inside the sewage pit for about 10 minutes,” said Mohd Asna Amin.
CPR was performed on the victim for 30 minutes while waiting for the ambulance, but sadly, the boy was pronounced dead by the hospital.
Mohd Asna Amin added that the school was just opened last year, and it should’ve received a Certificate of Completion and Compliance. However, he will be waiting for the full report before taking any further action.
The police have classified the case as an accident, with no criminal elements found
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief confirmed that the victim was brought to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ), Seremban, but was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
An autopsy will be conducted on the body at the Rembau Hospital to determine the cause of death. Currently, the police are classifying the incident as an accident, with no criminal elements involved.
