77yo M’sian Impresses Locals by Deadlifting 40kgs All on His Own & Without a Single Cue

The saying often goes that health is wealth, and that no matter what, it is never too late for someone to aspire in reaching some crucial fitness and well-being goals. But who else can inspire Malaysians better than a 77-year-old uncle who is proving that, despite one’s age, you too can achieve anything you set your mind to.

A recent TikTok video posted by Malaysian coach Narresh Paramanathan, who also has a Master’s degree in Sports Science, to his page @narresh_paramanathan, has been making waves online after he caught an instance of his father, who is 77 years old, deadlifting an impressive 40kgs. On top of that, Narresh revealed that his dad did so without receiving a single cue from him.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Narresh stated that he encouraged his father to start doing deadlifts as a method to aid him in his issues with severe back and knee pain. According to Narresh, his purpose with beginning such training for his father was to improve his strength and muscle mass, as well as improve his coordination and balance.

In a prior TikTok video, Narresh displayed just how severe his father’s knee and back pains were, as the 77-year-old experienced difficulties just sitting down in a car. Narresh also explained that with just two low-intensity training sessions a week, there has been remarkable improvements with his dad’s health.

“There have been a lot of improvements with his health, and he looks forward to our weekly sessions together,” said Narresh to WORLD OF BUZZ.

According to the coach, the duo do not have a specific weight goal in mind to achieve with deadlifting, but instead seeks to ensure that his dad is free from pain moving into the later years of his life.

“But who knows, if he can deadlift 100kgs some day, he can also compete in a powerlifting competition too,” light-heartedly added Narresh to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Garnering a massive response online, many people were in awe at Mr Paramanathan’s abilities considering his age, accrediting it not only to his strong will but also consistency in training with his son.

“This is impressive! Ever since I saw that transformation video, it proved that it’s never too late to start something new,” wrote one user.
