Getting stuck at toll booths due to insufficient funds on your Touch ‘n Go eWallet is undoubtedly one of the worst experiences one can go through.

Fortunately, TNG Digital is aiming to alleviate that stress through its introduction of an SOS Balance feature which would allow them to cover the toll payment for you for a short period.

However, do note that there are a couple of things you need to know. Firstly, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet’s SOS Balance can only be used at tolls and only those that are RFID- and PayDirect-enabled.

Secondly, there’s a grace period of only 24 hours. This means that you can go through multiple tolls within the same day, but if you don’t clear the toll debt, then all of the payment-related functions of the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, including the SOS Balance feature itself, will be suspended.

Lastly, there are a few conditions for one to even become applicable for the SOS Balance feature.

According to TNG Digital, the feature will only be accessible to users who meet three conditions which are:

  1. users that clear all outstanding payments promptly,
  2. those who add money frequently to their eWallet and
  3. those who actively use their eWallet for transactions

For more on the feature, as well as which toll plazas are eligible, you can find out more by clicking here.

What do you think of the feature?
