Driving under the influence is not only harmful to the drivers but also to the people around them.

A man crashed his Mercedes Benz car into a major fast food restaurant in Kota Damansara, Selangor. The accident happened at around 6pm yesterday (20th August) and the 60-year-old offender was drunk during the crash, reported New Straits Times.

The suspect is the manager of a landscaping company. Furthermore, the police chief of Petaling Jaya, Mohd Zani Che Din said the findings from the investigation showed that the car swerved and collided with a pedestrian and two motorcycles at the area.

The accident ruined the wall, tables, and chairs that were outside the restaurant. Mohd Zani said that the pedestrian, identified as Lee Guo Hoo (72 years old) , sustained injuries to his head and legs.

“An alcohol test on the suspect showed a positive reading of excessive alcohol level, higher than the legal consumption limit,” added Mohd Zani.

“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) and Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

It is hoped that the injured elderly man recovers safely from his injuries. We should always ensure that our friends or family do not drive after they have consumed excessive amounts of alcohol.
