In the early hours of Sunday morning (4th August), a police corporal believed to be under the influence of alcohol fired several gunshots outside a nightclub at an entertainment centre at Jalan Tun Razak.

According to the New Straits Times, the 5.25am incident occurred when the 33-year-old policeman was allegedly trying to break up a fight between his girlfriend and a group of individuals, and he pulled out his gun and fired multiple shots.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The police officer was quickly apprehended by security guards at the entertainment centre before he was sent to the authorities.

According to The Star, the officer was arrested by the police after being handed over by security guards. Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the arrest, adding that the police officer is under remand for two days to assist with investigations.
