Life has its ups and downs and they’re inevitable. What we do is to try to make the best out of the worst situations.
A 70-year-old man from Sitiawan fell into a 13-feet-deep well while he was at work at a palm plantation on 23rd May.
He drank dirt water and ATE A FROG to stay alive while he was trapped in the well for 37 hours straight!
According to SinChew, the top of the well was covered in grass, and the water in the well reached his chest and it was too deep for him to get out on his own.
Thanks to the rescue team who didn’t give up searching, they found him at 9:40pm on 24th May, fatigued and famished due to staying up for just over a day and a half. Good job guys!
Fortunately, he was conscious and still able to speak clearly while he was found. The rescue team quickly tossed a bottle of water for him to quench his thirst, and then proceed to reel him up with a rubber tube.
The uncle said,
“Not only that I had to drink the dirty and stinky well water, but I also ate a live frog that I found in the well. When I can’t find any more frogs to eat, I began to panic. I thought I could only last for another day. If no one found me until Sunday, I’ll sure be dead.”
They then fed him some bread, and the old man was checked by a doctor who tagged along. When his vitals were confirmed to be alright, he was sent to Pantai Hospital Manjung.
It was reported that the man went to the plantation to harvest palm fruits as usual, but he fell into the well around 9am that day. His wife waited for him to come home for lunch, and she tried to search for him but to no avail.
Her relatives then sought help from Manjung Rescue Team later at 6pm. The team searched for the entire night but they weren’t able to find the old man. Thanks to the family’s persistence, they went back to the plantation after the uncle’s wife told them she spotted his motorbike.
This is such a terrible thing to happen to an old man, we hope he won’t encounter such an unlucky experience ever again!
