Kids’ minds are like sponges, they easily absorb what’s shown and taught to them, even if it brings harm because they’re too young and naive to ponder about the consequences.

Just recently in China, a 7-year-old girl did the “impossible” by carrying a younger boy before throwing him into a 2-meter deep well! The girl showed no pity nor remorse, presumably because she did not know about the grave consequences.

The Straits Times reported that the incident took place in a village earlier last month where the incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed around the village. In the video, the boy can be heard crying for help and holding the edges but that did not stop the girl’s act.

She moved his finger off the edges and dropped him into the water hole. The girl continued to stand beside the wall for a moment and looked into the water hole before she left the scene. Of the horrifying incident that just happened, the young girl appeared to be unbothered and unafraid.

The fate of the boy

The innocent boy’s fate is probably the first thing many of us are worried about, aside from what motivated the girl to do so, which we’ll get back to that shortly.

Fortunately, the boy was saved by the villagers when they heard his cry for help. Apart from catching a cold, the boy did not suffer any injuries. As for the girl who had the bravery to commit such an act, you’ll be surprised (or maybe not) about where she learned to do so.

“She was duplicating an act she saw from the TV,” a village official said.

The boy and the girl are neighbours and they spend a lot of time playing together.

A child psychologist told The Beijing Times and related the incident to the possibility of a lack of family care for the girl, as well as how images can be a source of great impact for children.

We’re glad that the boy is safe! Fellow parents, do you filter what your children watch on the screen? What are your safety measures when it comes to protecting your children from the influence of TV or movies?
