The main topic of discussion for this entire week was centred around the 6-year-old boy in Langkawi who took a drive in his father’s car along with his 3-year-old sibling.
They didn’t manage to get far, only 2.5km before they crashed into a lamp post. Both the siblings were unharmed.
However, this case has sparked a lot of discussions on different social media platforms and also caused a lot of speculation such as the involvement of mystical beings and his parents training him on a driving simulator.
In the newest update, the Langkawi district chief police ACP Shariman Ashari said that investigations showed that the boy learnt how to drive by watching YouTube. Other than that, he also learnt by observing how his father drove the car.
“Investigations show that there are no simulators at home and the viral videos and pictures do not depict the child that drove the car.”
According to TV3, ACP Shariman Ashari said that they have interrogated the parents, grandfather and witnesses. The child will also be referred to the Children Interview Center in the Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters to get a detailed explanation of the incident.
With technology, children are becoming increasingly smarter and it’s better if parents monitor what content their children are consuming on YouTube, TikTok and other social media platforms.
