59yo Man Slashed with Penknife by Another Patron After Alleged Argument Over Drinks at a Cafe in S’pore

Two men ended up in a heated fight after having drinks at a coffee shop in Singapore, leaving one of them injured.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, the incident happened at a Toa Payoh coffee shop on August 9 (Saturday), when a 49-year-old man allegedly slashed a 59-year-old man with a penknife.

The suspect was successfully arrested

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed receiving a call about the incident at around 8:30 PM, requesting assistance at Block 168, Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.

The suspect was later arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. The victim was sent to the hospital and is currently being treated at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

An eyewitness said he first saw the two men sitting with a couple at the coffee shop. Later, the men walked to a nearby HDB block, where one of them ended up sitting on the ground with what looked like a head wound.

“There was blood all over the ground”

The eyewitness suspected that the men began arguing over drinks before deciding to “settle the matter” elsewhere.

“A woman called the police and an ambulance. There was blood all over the ground; it was terrifying,” he added.

Police said investigations into the incident are currently underway.
