This is hospitality on another level!
Recently, a group of 5 Singaporeans were on a motorcycle road trip in Chiang Mai, Thailand on 30 March. As it was lunchtime, they were looking around for a restaurant to eat in.
Not long after, they found a small building with canopies set up outside and many people chattering and eating there. Thinking that it was a restaurant, the group parked their motorcycles and went toward the building.
They tried talking to them but there was a clear language barrier, even so, they were brought to a table soon after.
“It was hard to communicate with the locals as there was a language barrier so we were using hand gestures to say that we were looking for a restaurant,” Dilan Lau told Asia One.
After sitting down, they asked for a menu and found out that there wasn’t one. That’s when they began to put the pieces together and realised that this was a party of some sort.
Realising their mistake, they wanted to leave but the hosts were adamant about them staying. They were served some noodles, drinks, ice cream and alcohol that they declined as they needed to continue their journey.
With their tummies full, the group wanted to pay the host for their goodwill but they rejected it and gave them even more food for the road.
The group only found out that they crashed a wedding after someone replied to their stories. The series of videos also went viral on Thai TikTok.
