A heartbreaking scene unfolded in Johor Bahru, as a 3-year-old boy lost his life after he was run over by a pickup truck while he was playing on his scooter in his housing area.

CCTV footage of the incident has since gone viral online, as showcased by the AKIN and Bangang Forever Facebook pages. This incident allegedly took place on Friday, August 4, at 6:30pm.

In the video, the little boy could be seen on his scooter, in the middle of the road of his housing area. At one point, the little boy stood still, directly in front of a zebra crossing, as the pickup truck approached and ran over him.

Just after that, painful, agonising screams could be heard as someone ran towards the little boy lying on the road.

Netizens have since shared their opinion on the horrifying incident, where they believe there are 2 parties to be blamed for the loss, the driver of the pickup truck as well as the little boy’s parents.

“The parents were careless to not monitor their son, the 4×4 was not paying attention to the situation around them while driving. If you are driving in a housing area, you have to be aware of your surroundings and be prepared for any situation.”

“There is fault with the parents and there is fault with the driver. I cannot put 100% of the blame on the driver. The driver was in the wrong for not being alert in a residential area. And the parents are in the wrong as that’s a road, why was the son allowed to freely play on the road?”

“The driver was careless, the parents were also careless.”

Our deepest condolences to the little boy’s family and friends.
