This is why young children need to constantly be monitored. This kid could’ve been seriously hurt!

A 3-year-old boy had his hand caught in an escalator belt while playing with the handrail in Klang League Wholesale City Plaza at 5:30pm last Saturday.

According to Oriental Daily, the CCTV footage revealed the boy and his mother on the 3rd floor of the escalator. The mother can be seen holding the boy’s right hand but his left hand was spotted sliding along the black handrail repeatedly.

He was seen struggling to pull it out and started crying as he found himself unable to move. The commotion drew in a crowd and the mall authorities rushed to the scene in attempt to diffuse the situation of panic.

Videos of the distressed child have since been circulated across Facebook with netizens commenting on how the parents should have kept a watchful eye on their son.

Fortunately, the boy only suffered a minor skin tear. His arm is still intact and functioning.

As for the mall authorities, Klang Commense Wholesale City has released a statement reporting that they had the Selangor Industrial Safety and Health Department check their escalator for any issues.

The report showed that the escalator met all safety specifications and was in good working order. However, in light of the accident, relevant authorities will be conducting more security checks to ensure the safety of the mall’s visitors.

The managing director of the mall has also urged all parents to watch their children carefully, especially when accompanying them to take the escalator to avoid future accidents like these from happening again.
