The term, glow up, refers to the positive physical transformation many experience upon reaching a certain age. This normally happens after a person’s teenage years.
And while glow ups seem to be expected of everyone these days, many are starting to feel like their glow up progress is not happening as quickly as their peers, leaving them feeling bad about themselves.
A young Malaysian woman took to the SecretsMY Twitter page to question if it’s too late for her to “become pretty” as she sees her friends glowing up faster than her.
She wrote, “Hi, I’m a 21-year-old female and I just wanted to ask questions to all the nice people, especially the nice ladies, about my appearance. I honestly feel and look really ugly.”
“Every time I look in the mirror and (look at) my selfies, I just can’t be satisfied with how I look. My face is round, my tanned skin is uneven, my body looks weird, just everything about myself.”

Like any other girl out there, she tried to use make up to her advantage
She’s also comparing her appearance to her friends’.
“Even if I try wearing make up, I look like a human disaster. Most of my friends are in their 20s too and they look gorgeous compared to when I saw them during our schooling days.”
“I know people usually glow up in their 20s but it seems like it’s not the case for me. I just want to ask, is it too late for me to start looking pretty too? Because people expect us to already be pretty in our 20s and yet, I still look ugly,” she shared.
While it is normal to compare our progress with that of our friends, it is also important to learn to love ourselves and understand that everyone gets to their goals on their own pace.
We genuinely hope that the girl stops seeing herself as ugly and sees how beautiful she is in her own way.
