Two days ago, 15 December, a one-year-old child was trapped in his parent’s car at a petrol station.

The child was trapped in the car for almost 40 minutes. It took the firefighters and rescuers roughly 10 minutes to remove the child.

According to Harian Metro, the incident happened around 7pm. The one-year-old, Mohd Farish Ikhmal Mohd Fadil Helmi, was trapped in his father’s Proton Pesona at a petrol station in Taman Gemerih, Jalan Muar.

The one-year-old was left in the front passenger seat of the car with the engine turned off when his 27-year-old father went out to refuel while his mother went to a nearby convenience store.

Segamat Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander, Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Hazim Abd Razak said, six members with a machine went to the scene after receiving an emergency call.

He explained that the child may have pressed the door lock from inside the vehicle.

He then added on to say the team had to pull the car door open using a piece of special equipment.

“The child was handed over to his father in a safe condition and the operation ended at 7.40pm,” he said.
