The Seremban Sessions Court recently sentenced a 19-year-old Malaysian college student to undergo 240 hours of community service within 12 months after he pleaded guilty to raping an underage girl.

The accused, Muhammad Amirullah Zaazuren, pleaded guilty to the charge of raping the 14-year-old victim at a house at Felda Raja Alias 2 in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, at 12.30am on 30 December 2024.

According to Harian Metro, the accused was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which prescribes a punishment of up to 20 years in jail and whipping for those convicted.

The accused, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded for a minimal punishment from Judge Datin Surita Budin in the form of a low bond amount, as his mother had loans with the bank.

Accordingly, the judge granted a bond of RM4,000 and warned the accused that if he failed to complete the 240 hours of community service or violated any other conditions of the bond, he would be brought back to court and charged under the principal offence.

Furthermore, the court will also forfeit the RM4,000 collateral if the accused doesn’t adhere to all the conditions.

Local media reported the conditions of the bond to include reporting at the nearest police station on the first day of every month during the period, attending counselling and notifying the Welfare Department if he moves to another place.
