An 18-year-old woman in Melaka suffered severe injuries as tragedy befell when she was on a motorcycle yesterday (20 October).
She was slashed with a sharp object by another rider, who approached her on his motorcycle, and fled the scene after attacking her.

In the incident that took place at 5:30 PM yesterday, the victim was slashed from the back by the unknown assailant. She was then rescued by the public who was at the scene, and an ambulance was sent over before the teenage victim was taken to Hospital Melaka, reported Sinar Harian.
Melaka Tengah Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, confirmed the matter, and said that the motive of the attack is still being investigated. The images of the injured victims are also circulating on social media, and the matter took place in Solok Tangga Batu, Tanjung Kling, Melaka.
Suspect arrested in less than 24 hours
In another statement by Christopher, he revealed that the suspect has been nabbed by the police in just less than a day. According to him, the 18-year-old victim was riding pillion on the motorcycle while her 21-year-old sister-in-law rode the motorcycle, and both were headed home at that time.

The victim told her sister-in-law to stop at the roadside after feeling an immense pain at her back, and at this time, her sister noticed a male rider on a Yamaha LC V8 overtook them and sped off the scene.
The victim, who is currently being treated at the Yellow Zone in Hospital Melaka, has just travelled from Johor to Melaka in less than a month to work as a factory operator.
The suspect is expected to be remanded this morning (21 October), and the matter is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing harm with a dangerous weapon.
