In this day and age, arming yourself with some good ol’ self-defence skills can be very helpful to protect yourself from any perverts or criminals as you don’t know when they will target you. This young teen from Mumbai certainly put her self-defence and karate skills to good use when a man tried to molest her on the train.

According to Hindustan Times, the 15-year-old visually-impaired girl was on the fast train to Kalyan from Dadar with her father on Monday (Dec 17). They were in the disabled train compartment when Vishal Baliram Singh, 24, who was also in the same carriage, attempted to grope her from behind. Shame on him, taking advantage of disabled people!

Her 56-year-old father confronted the man and Vishal attacked him. However, the girl remained calm and turned around to twist Vishal’s hand so hard that he screamed, which alerted the other passengers as well. Not so tough anymore, eh!

She kept a tight grip on the man while he dropped to his knees in pain and when the train reached the next station at Matunga, the girl’s father alerted the Dadar Government Rail Police (GRP) officers.

Prasad Pandhare, Senior Police Inspector said that the girl’s self-defence technique was so perfect that she could have easily broken Vishal’s fingers if she had not relaxed her grip in time. “She did not seem scared at all, and boldly told us to arrest Singh,” he added.

Vishal has been arrested by the GRP officers for molestation, illegally travelling in the compartment meant for the differently-abled and travelling without a ticket. The man, who is a computer maintenance technician was remanded for two days.

The brave girl told Hindustan Times that she wanted to teach him a lesson and said, “We are always easy targets for creeps like Vishal. Our school teaches us self-defence and karate as part of our curriculum, so we can face the world despite our disability. I want the man to suffer, to ensure he does not repeat the act with any other ‘easy target’.”

Kudos to the young girl for putting her self-defence skills to good use and teaching perverts like these a lesson they won’t forget!
