This so tragic! A teenager committed suicide in his room on the third floor of a shop lot in Lo Chong Park, Beaufort, Sabah. According to The Star, the boy was found dead hanging from the ceiling of his room, hours after he was allegedly scolded by his sister for playing truant.

District police chief Deputy Supt Azmir Abd Razak stated that a report was received regarding the discovery of the boy’s body on Monday (8th July) at around 1.50 pm.

“The police went to the scene at around 2.05 pm. By the time they arrived, the body had already been placed in the living room.”

“An ambulance was also at the scene. Further investigations had shown that the victim died from hanging himself,” stated Azmir.

Investigations revealed that his 51-year-old mother had left for work at approximately 6.40 am, while his younger brother went to school.

“He was left at home with his sister. Before leaving for work, she told him off for skipping school.”

The younger brother came home at about 1.30pm and alarmingly found the victim hanging dead from the ceiling of his bedroom. Shocked, he then untied the rope around the 15-year-old victim’s neck and immediately contacted his mother.

It is believed that the incident happened after the deceased was scolded by his sister, according to Azmir.

A post-mortem was done at Hospital Beaufort and the case has been classified as sudden death.
