A teenager in China may be disabled for life after suffering a hellish punishment.
He was punished to do 1,000 squats at summer camp, but couldn’t find the strength to continue after 200 long squats, as reported by Tencent News.
What did he do to deserve such a punishment?
The 14-year-old teenager was distracted during training and talked to his peers, so the instructor wanted him to perform 1,000 squats in a row, just for talking.
Instead of showing empathy, the teen was kicked over for not being able to continue squatting. His mum came over and sent him to the hospital, and returned home with bandages and medications. However, his condition deteriorated – he couldn’t walk and couldn’t sleep at night.
The mum and son returned to the hospital 3 days later, where he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis in his legs – a condition in which damaged skeletal muscle breaks down rapidly.
Unfortunately, the teen also suffered damage to his kidney and liver.
The mum also visited another doctor to get a second opinion, but the diagnosis remained the same.
“The doctor said that my child may not be able to participate in sports activities for the rest of his life, which means he will be disabled.”
The family reported the incident to the police and also filed a lawsuit in court, urging the organizer of the summer camp to take responsibility. The case entered the judicial process and the head of the institution involved said that the instructor did not use corporal punishment or beating, and agreed to settle the case with compensation of 18,000 yuan (approximately RM10,800).
The family, however, disagreed with the compensation and continued with the lawsuit.
