Despite being fined RM2,000, the illegal photographers are back in the KLCC area where tourists flock.

This time, one of the photographers was not happy with a small group of tourists from China, who purchased only one photo from the photographer. In a viral TikTok video, the woman was seen handing the photographer RM5 for only one picture.

The visibly annoyed photographer then mumbled at the Chinese tourist after he received the RM5 banknote, but the tourist laughed it off.

“He’s angry that we bought only 1 picture from him.”

Late last month, DBKL and other agencies conducted an operation to crack down on illegal photography activities, stating that it poses risks to both road users and tourists as the photography is done on the pedestrian path and the road.

The illegal photographers were shocked by the fine, but claimed that the authorities were planning to approve their activities by giving them licenses.

“Please deploy one or two auxiliary police.”

The TikTok video, which is also currently circulating on X, gained the attention of Malaysian social media users, who were not happy to see the return of the illegal photographers who allegedly extort money from tourists by charging them extra for pictures.

Others questioned the lack of authorities in the area.

“Is there no enforcement? Please deploy one or two auxiliary police. The illegal photographers are making a career out of their activities.”

“Thanks to them, Malaysia’s image is tarnished.”

“I thought these people were fined for taking photos illegally?”

“That’s an Indonesian wearing a Sabahan shirt,” a netizen claimed.

“It’s not even a DSLR, he was using an iPhone.”

To those who frequent the KLCC area, have you spotted the photographers?
