Yuna is one of our homegrown artists that we’re really proud of! Recently, she released an album called Rouge featuring some of today’s biggest stars such as Jay Park, Tyler, The Creator and G-Eazy. You can check it out here, it’s really good.
So yesterday, she released a music video for one of her songs in the album, Not The Love of My Life. The video featured Yuna wearing a lehenga with tons of aesthetics!
In the description of the video, Yuna says:
“Not The Love of My Life tells a story of a bride in the midst of getting ready for her wedding but is second guessing her decision to settle down.”
She said that she came back to Malaysia to work on the MV with her friend, Harshini Sukumaran, a traditional Indian choreographer whom she had worked with before in another one of her MV’s, Forevermore.
Yuna also said that she’s grateful and blessed to have collaborated with other talents such as the dancers and business owners within the Indian wedding industry as they helped her incorporate beauty and insight into the music video.
She explained that back home in Malaysia, everyone partakes in each other’s culture in a very loving and respectful way which she feels is very unique and worthy of sharing.
Yuna said that she’s not the star in this music video but rather the “bride”, the dancers and everyone else. She’s also happy that she got the opportunity to direct her first video. Yuna mentioned that it would not have been possible without the consultation, support, and most importantly, love from the Malaysian Indian community.
That’s a really aesthetically pleasing music video with a very catchy song! It gave me so much feels! T___T
