A sharing by Indonesian travel content creator @daeengg caught the attention of netizens from both Indonesia and Malaysia recently, as he revealed the conditions on the Indonesian side of Borneo island near the land border with Malaysia.

In the video, @daeengg travelled via motorcycle to the Indonesia-Malaysia land border on Borneo, specifically, the land border between Sarawak and West Kalimantan at Desa Temajuk, Sambas.

At the start of the video, @daeengg showed the conditions of the Desa Temajuk villages, especially the road conditions, which he noted as “concerning” up to this day.

The closer he rode his motorcycle to the land border with Malaysia, the worse the road conditions became. In fact, the road leading to the entrance of the border with Malaysia is just a dirt road.

At the border, @daeengg showed a stone marking noting the border between Indonesia and Malaysia, with the Malaysian border being guarded with barbed fences and a security post.

Rather jarringly, the road on the Malaysian side has a proper asphalt surface and looks well-maintained when compared to the Indonesian side.

This gets even more apparent when @daeengg panned the video between the Indonesian and Malaysian sides in the later part of the video.

On the overlaid text of the video, @daeengg asserted,

“This is the conditions at the border’s entrance… Malaysia already has asphalt roads, while Indonesia still has dirt roads.”
