The world, especially families of the victims is still shaken by the death of ALL 5 passengers onboard Titan – the Titanic bound submersible in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The youngest victim, Suleman Dawood was only 19 and he perished with his father, Shahzada Dawood who was also onboard. Titan is believed to have imploded catastrophically due to the immense underwater pressure, which was too much for the titanium-made submersible to withstand. While the blaming game continues, here’s something you might not know.
Suleman didn’t want to join the underwater trip.
Let’s be honest. It would be a nightmare for anyone to embark on a journey where you’re expected to go deep, deep down the blue ocean. Titan’s passengers were also required to sign a waiver that clearly stated it could be a 1-way trip, and they may not make it back, which sadly, was what happens.
With the uncertainties lingering on your mind while going down “another world” where most of it is still unexplored? Straight-up nightmare fuel.
For Suleman, despite his fear, decided to tag along because he wanted to keep his father happy on Father’s Day. The length we go to for our loved ones. Little did he know, his decision sealed his fate and cost him his dear life.
Suleman’s aunty told the media that he was terrified about the trip but he was also eager to please his dad on Father’s Day, as reported by NBC News. She said that Shahzada was a huge fan of the lore of the Titanic.
“I’m just thinking about them here, gasping for air to survive. Honestly, it has been cripping,” she told the media before their deaths were confirmed by the U.S. Coast Guard.
She also described the torturous waiting game by saying, “I feel like I’ve been caught in a really bad film, with a countdown, but you didn’t know what you’re counting down to.”
Suleman’s aunty also thanked those involved in the search for Titan for their untiring efforts.
It’s heartbreaking to know that Suleman’s eagerness to keep his father happy ended up in a tragedy. We can only imagine the fear all passengers had to go through when they lost connection with the surface world. The Titanic shipwreck at the bottom of the sea is a gravesite that should be left alone, and perhaps, there is always a limit when it comes to exploring parts that have yet to be explored.
We never know how unforgiving some places can be, especially when not all technologies can beat Mother Nature.
